I believe that every day is an opportunity to feel fabulous, and fashion can help many people achieve this. Creative expression is essential to our sense of self. It can also bring people together and help them connect with their like-minded tribe. I believe that the right outfit can be a powerful tool in gaining and maintaining a sense of confidence, especially for women. All of us are wonderful, worthy beings. Origin Story:

Picture it. Sydney, 2022. Lockdown: day… eleventy-billion, give or take

A young woman sits beside her German shepherd dog and ponders pandemic life. They’ve returned home after yet another walk. Both of them could do with a drink; one of them could really do with a haircut. She gets up and pours pineapple juice into her favourite glass – a hand-blown snifter style one, passed down from her mother – and swallows it down along with the existential angst.

As a law-abiding citizen and Covid-conscious healthcare worker, she has only left the house for essential items, services and tasks for many weeks now. This collective determining of ‘essential’ has really got her thinking. Luxury is by definition something not completely necessary, but she believes a little bit of luxury is essential to everyday life. The pleasure and comfort to be found in beautiful, quality items can be soothing and joy-giving, especially in tough times. And she’s fairly sure that a pandemic would rate quite highly on a list titled ‘Tough Times’.

The next day, she and the dog go for their usual walk, but she decides to don a colourful dress (the one she impulse-bought online the week prior to lockdown commencing) and a splendidly large sunhat, while the dog looks dapper in his fur coat and a bright bandana. They are both smiling as they hit the pavement, though hers is of course concealed behind a mask. The following hour is spent meeting strangers who strike up spontaneous conversations about their attire, all of them sharing in a moment of connectedness while standing 2 metres apart.

It is a luxurious moment indeed.
